Questions, answered

What is a visual birth plan?

It’s a one-page summary of your birth preferences told mostly in simple icons instead of long paragraphs. Because it’s visual, a nurse or midwife can take in what matters to you in about ten seconds — even in a busy moment.

Is it really free?

Yes. Building your plan and downloading the PDF is completely free, with no account and no paywall. We keep the lights on through optional product recommendations elsewhere on the site — never inside the planner.

Do hospitals actually accept birth plans?

Most care teams welcome a short, clear plan — it helps them support you. The key is keeping it to one page and framing it as preferences rather than demands, which is exactly what this tool is built to do. Always share it with your provider ahead of time so there are no surprises.

What happens to my information — is it private?

Everything you tap or type stays in your browser on your device. We have no server storing plans, no database, and no account system. Your plan is turned into a PDF right on your device and never sent to us or anyone else.

Can doulas and childbirth educators use it?

Absolutely. Many doulas use it as a conversation starter with clients — tapping through the icons together surfaces preferences people didn’t know they had. Feel free to use it in your practice.

What’s the difference between a birth plan and a postpartum plan?

A birth plan covers labor and delivery — comfort, movement, monitoring, and the golden hour. A postpartum (or “baby”) plan covers feeding, rooming, visitors, and recovery. Since the page fits about one page’s worth of icons, many people make two: one for birth, one for after.

Can I change my plan during labor?

Of course. A birth plan is a starting point, not a contract. Preferences can shift in the moment, and a good care team will keep talking with you. That’s exactly why the footer of every plan notes that these are preferences, and that you trust your team’s judgment in an emergency.

Do I need to fill in every section?

Not at all. Pick only what matters to you — even a handful of icons makes a helpful plan. Everything, including the detail fields like your name and provider, is optional.

Your day, your way.

Take five minutes to make something your whole birth team can rally around.
